I lie in wait for my life to come
It’s a lonely occupation
My dreams exhaust me and spoil the fun
I fight with my breath but she’s such a poor competitor
I used to enjoy untangling the cords to my video game machine
But now they are replaced with thoughts and the game is old
I lie in wait for my life to come
It builds an awful hunger but I’m too scared to move
I create meaning where love once lived
And struggle to entertain this audience of one
I wonder if the sun still shines
And if you remember saying you’d return
As I lie in wait for my life to come
